Freshwater snails sizes

The freshwater snails begin their lives in speckle sized eggs surrounded by a jelly-like bag. Here you may see such a bag filled with dozens of eggs.

From a tiny egg, the snail grows to an average 1–2 cm size in a 30 liter fish tank.

Though, freshwater snails grown in a lake may reach truly enormous sizes!

This shell is of the same kind of freshwater snails as I keep in my aquariums. It comes from the lakes of Central park of NY.

It is about 5 cm long. One may find even larger shells of the same kind of freshwater snails.

Even small sized freshwater snails are fun and a nice addition to any aquarium!

Have fun and happy snails :)
